Gary Brandt – Executive Director

He started as the Director of the new Boulder Jewish Teen Initiative in September 2014 and will be implementing all things Jewish youth in the Boulder area!  He graduated in 2006 from the University of Arizona with a Bachelors in Middle Eastern History and Modern Politics.  Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Gary has spent the past six years serving as the Senior Assistant Director of the URJ Jacobs Camp in Mississippi where he created meaningful community experiences focused on fun activities, personal growth, and skill building for the Deep South’s Jewish youth. Before working full time at Jacobs Gary was an ambulance driver, taught English in Japan, worked as a bicycle mechanic, and designed and constructed an ecological living area in Israel – a modern Renaissance man! Gary is dedicated to living a “slow” lifestyle; one that constructs time to enjoy food, friends, and our natural surroundings in healthy and sustainable ways. He brings his experience as an informal and experiential educator, Challenge Course Facilitator, and as an Eagle Scout to inspire and engage the teens in the greater Boulder area.
